Cllr Máirín McGrath said that dead and fallen trees are a huge danger for drivers and pedestrians.

At the county council meeting this month, Storm Barra left traces of damage behind him, and the fallen trees on the Tipperary Road posed a particular hazard.

Cllr Máirín McGrath stated that it is unfair for city council outdoor staff to go out to remove these dangerous fallen trees. Can a survey be conducted to determine which trees need to be cut down and replant the area? “I think it’s beneficial to cut trees on dry days. It’s prudent to do so on the road part because it’s unfair to expect our own employees to go out when it’s not necessarily safe.”

Cllr David Dunne said he had to work during Storm Barra and go home during peak hours. "It's all dead trees. Most landowners do their part, but when people rent land, they don't seem to have any responsibility to control the hedge growth. This is a major problem, and our storms are becoming more frequent. ." Cllr Dunne praised the excellent communication of the city council staff.

Cllr Jim Ryan said that although the damage was not as severe as initially thought, unfortunately, there was a group of people who did not take it seriously enough. Cllr Ryan stated that some of the energy-efficient public lighting installed in Thurles in August was still not working properly, resulting in "darkness" on Stradavoher and Kickham Street.

Cllr Sean Ryan caused friction on the road. If the road is marked as dangerous, are there any regulations to polish the road? Cllr Ryan points to the back door of the residential area around Thurles. There are no funding plans to resurface the back doors of Kennedy Park, Childers Park, and Collins Park. "The road has become very bad."

Service director Marcus O'Connor said that landowners are responsible for removing trees. "We must be clear about this. We can't be vague about this."

It is impossible for the local authorities to measure 6,000 kilometers of roads in Tipperary, including about 12,000 kilometers of ditches. Except for Donegal, Tipperary has more salted roads than any other county. There are about 1,000 kilometers of roads, which means that 5,000 kilometers are unsalted. "Logistically speaking, it is impossible to contact them all." Hail events are difficult to predict and can cause this to be like driving on a "ball bearing", which means the driver must slow down or stop.

Mr. O'Connor said that the salt warehouses in Nenagh and Cahir are well-stocked and well-equipped to deal with "freezing events" of 5-10 days.
